Help Us Build the Future Through Gifts of Real Estate
Consider donating a home or land parcel to help Habitat take the first step toward building safe, affordable housing! Your real estate donation not only brings you tax benefits but also makes a meaningful difference for families in our community.
We gratefully accept donations of debilitated or unlivable houses, undeveloped land, and residential or commercial properties in Henderson County. Properties can be located within or outside city limits, but we are unable to accept land in flood-prone areas. Habitat seeks parcels large enough to build at least one family home, and larger lots enable us to construct multiple housing units, increasing the number of families we can serve with each project.
At Henderson Habitat, we dream of building an entire neighborhood where the community can actively participate in the building process. This would allow us to construct multiple homes simultaneously and offer hands-on team-building opportunities for local schools, churches, and businesses. It's a chance for people to truly engage with Habitat for Humanity's mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance!
Creating a neighborhood like this would bring incredible opportunities that our community has yet to experience. Ideally, we would build on property in the county, but the high cost of land has made it difficult to acquire any for this vision. If you know of available property or someone willing to donate a few acres, we would love to connect with you!

Real Estate Gifts May Be Accepted in a Variety of Ways
Outright Gift: Donor transfers the property for retention and use by the Habitat for Humanity or for immediate liquidation with proceeds directed according to donor intent.
Bargain Sale: Donor sells the property to Habitat for less than its appraised fair market value and receives a charitable deduction for the difference between the value of the property and the sale price.
Bequest: Donor bequeaths the property to Habitat for Humanity of Henderson, Ky in his or her will or revocable (living) trust. If a gift of real estate is encumbered by a mortgage or lien, Habitat will request the donor pay off the debt prior to making the donation.
Please consider this information as a starting point. With all charitable gifts, it is important to consult with your attorney or financial adviser to ensure that you comply with state laws, receive maximum tax benefits, and that your wishes are accurately reflected in necessary legal documents.
