Donor Advised Funds
Harness the giving power of a private foundation—without the complexity.
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) acts like a charitable savings account, providing you with the flexibility to recommend how much and how often funds are granted to Human Habitat and other qualified charities. You can suggest a one-time grant or set up recurring grants to make an immediate impact, or use your fund as a strategic tool for future charitable giving.
You can also create a lasting legacy by naming Human Habitat as the beneficiary of your entire Donor Advised Fund or a percentage of it. By designating a percentage, you can establish a family legacy of giving, allowing your loved ones to carry on the tradition of recommending grants to charitable organizations. Simply contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form.

An Example of How It Works
Meet the Smith Family
Emily and David recognize their good fortune and want to give back to their community in a meaningful way. They begin by establishing a $30,000 Donor Advised Fund with a local charitable foundation.
The couple receives a federal income tax charitable deduction for their contribution, giving them the flexibility to decide which organizations to support at their own pace.
After consulting with the foundation’s staff and learning about the pressing needs in their area, they discover that many families face food insecurity and that animal welfare is also a concern. Emily and David decide to recommend grants to the Local Food Bank and the Wildlife Rescue Center. The foundation issues checks to these charities from the "Hope Fund," named in honor of their beloved pet. Emily and David are thrilled to begin this legacy of generosity.
